Proper Etiquette
By Sophia Loopez
With a certain video going viral on the internet and spreading madly on Tik Tok, I decided to use it as an opportunity to tell you how to act in public. Let me start by explaining what ETIQUETTE means (for anyone who doesn’t know):
noun: etiquette; plural noun: etiquettes
the customary code of polite behavior in society or among members of a particular profession or group. “The rules of etiquette are changing"
Etiquette (from the dictionary):
Some synonyms are: Protocol, polite behavior, good manners, acceptable behavior, etc.…
In the video I am referring to, a man almost hits another woman’s car. Instead of letting it go, she takes matters into her own hands and stops in the middle of the road to argue with him. The man apologizes several times, but the woman wants to get her point out. Then she starts calling a lady, who is in the back of the car, very terrible names. This was not setting a good example for her children who were “Listening to Kids Bop.” Let me list all of the problems she made:
1. Instead of stopping her car to yell at this man, she should have let it go. There are many drivers out there who aren’t paying attention. This was obviously an accident.
2. After the man apologized, she should have accepted that it was an accident instead of thinking everyone is out to kill her. Remember, there will always be bad drivers in the world. Don’t make it your job to correct every single one of them.
3. Saying bad words in front of her children. If my mom had stopped the car in the middle of the road to yell at someone, I would be listening to the conversation because I was curious. Even if you don’t think someone can hear you, always watch what you say.
4. Don’t stop in the middle of the road to get your point out. Not everyone else wants to see what you are doing. Some people have places to be and do not appreciate you holding up traffic to argue with others. If it is that important, pull over to the side of the road.
Looking at her character, it appears like she would give her children anything to keep them out of her hair. This mean the will most likely have phones and access to the internet. Soon they will see their mother on Tik Tok or on YouTube forever known as Kids Bop Karen. (Someone who is a Karen is just someone who is very unpleasant to be around.) I hope everyone can learn from this and PLEASE DON’T be a Karen. Comment down below your opinions on this. I would love to hear them. Also comment any questions you have.
